I can tell by the SCBA bottle storage compartments on each side of the wheel wells, the Wheeled Coach was a Fire Dept Rescue Ambulance.

That will be a sweet setup for somebody, for sure!

I just wish we could get a forum section specifically for ambulance and ambulance related conversions, since there are so many of them. Even though they are located in the 'Other Custom Expedition Campers' section, you still have to hunt for things because they are thrown in with all the other 'miscellaneous' builds. That way you could subscribe to the section, instead of just each thread, so you don't miss any new builds.

Maybe I'll send a suggestion to Admin about his and see what happens.

I found my way here because it's one of the best places on the web to find info on ambulances and what can be done with them. Some builds are here and others are on the camperized van 4wd page. A central location would help, especially since I can't just go buy a manual for repairs and modification of a retired ambulance.

I stumbled across this interesting thread by chance. For the tow unit, I'd buy another enclosed trailer direct from the factory in Hamilton Ontario. They could likely even cover it in thicker skin if you wanted. The 16x7 cargo I bought new was only $4500... Including tandem axles and brakes. It had a 4x6 box steel & powder coated frame.

I'd bet you could buy a new 6x10 trailer for less than you could build an Ambo box into one. It would be tough and likely weigh a lot less... My massive trailer was about 2600 lbs and it towed like nothing behind my gasser. Loaded it was a different story... But it did carry all our belongings across the country and the safely through the Rocky Mountains. Unscrew the interior panels add som windows and be well on your way.
