The June 6 episode of Xtreme 4x4 will feature an upfitting party for a 1 ton GMC dually. Among the upgrades are 22.5 inch rims from American Force and Hankook AH12 road tires, which are 40 inches tall. A Skyjacker 3 inch suspension lift kit helps the tall tires fit.

It's nice to see that aftermarket support is increasing for the 22.5 conversion. It will be interesting to learn if they change the final drive ratio to help the engine turn the tall and heavy tires.

Xtreme 4x4 is shown on cable TV's Spike TV channel. The show will be rebroadcast on Sunday, June 7.

They chose to use Hankook AH12 in size 255/70R22.5. These are "only" 36 inches tall, 10 inches wide, and have a 5000 lb rating as a dual rear tire.

The standard tire for the 3500 is about 32 inches tall, so there were no changes made to gearing. They did upgrade the brakes to cope with the larger rotating mass.

The bumper they added looked very solid, a bolt-on upgrade from stock. It's made by Fab Fours in North Carolina. Here's a photo on a chevy 2500, not the truck used in the TV show.

Fab Fours makes bumpers for most mid-size and full size trucks. Their web site is http://www.fabfours.com/

FF is a great company, the bumpers always fit perfectly, and they come with everything needed. (lights)

That Tundra bumper on their home page looks like something out of Judge Dread...
