Anyone used Affinity Photo for Mac?

My wife has a whole bunch of photo editing software on her Mac, including iPhoto, Photos, Photoshop Elements, and Pixelmatr.
She doesn't use any of them, sigh.....

I on the other hand, use Photoshop (full version) and Bridge extensively, and have a bit of an aversion to LightRoom's interface. I was getting lured towards Aperture, right around the time Apple decided to kill it, so I never went there. Now I see this new app called Affinity Photo. Looks good, but I am gaining a degree of skepticism in my old(er) age, and no longer want to be first. Has anyone used this?

I have to admit, the video is pretty compelling. It looks like all the best, practical features of Photoshop, with Aperture like smoothness, and Pixelmatr friendly interface. Video link:

It was named best software app by Apple in 2015. Looks pretty legit.

So, anyone used it?

I played with the Affinity for Photos app a bit, but found it had random errors, crashes, and was appallingly slow at times.

The DXO plugin for Photos, on the other hand, is outstanding.

But, I am not going with Photos.

I tried the full DXO but it has no image management. I tried Capture One but it is no Aperture and for the price, less actually, I can get Lightroom AND the full, 16 bit Photoshop. And, since I get Photoshop for "free," I have not bothered to really look at Affinity. (And will not upgrade my copy of Elements.)

So now I am cussing and moaning about how much I hate Lightroom and miss Aperture. That said, I am getting some nice results with Lightroom's tools, specifically:

-- Masked sharpening
-- Detail and Dehaze

Did I mention how much I miss Aperture?
