I've only got a few years till my son graduates, that's when me and my wife are planning to do alot of exploring in are xj and the offroad teardrop I'm building. Missy's (my wife) xj was loosing the battle with rust after 10 years of trail use so I started her a new jeep out of a low miles, rust free, 2wd xj I found local. Her old xj and the new one I started with.

I tore down the 2wd xj for lift, paint, and 4wd conversion.

Now I'm working on the teardrop that will run the same wheel and tire as the xj, so I only have to carry one spare and that will be on the swing out tire carrier on the teardrop. I got the frame welded up and into paint.

This is the frame done with tires and wheels, and mockup sides on it to get an idea of what it's gonna look like and make sure it all works. I'm starting on the cabin of the trailer this week so I'm on here researching and looking for Idea's.

+1 on the unusual headliner. I'm starting to like the idea of a teardrop trailer the more I see them. Interested in how this one will turn out.

She loved the first one so much you replicated it! Nice Work. I'm down in Beckley and after going from XJ to JKU, i'm back looking for an XJ again. Prices are really climbing for rust free decent mileage. Unfortunately I don't have the time or fab skills to take on a rebuild like yours. Well done!

Things didn't work out this summer and I just got back to working on the teardrop again. Here's a few pics of how it's coming along.

I'm not sure if you can find it, a member here, Hudsonhawk had a write up about him building a teardrop for his Jeep trailer.

I'll try and find it thanks. I got the front radius done this evening and hoping to get the roof and hatch roughed in this week..
