Java,
That's why I mentioned clean all of it out and start fresh with the raptor. Always good to have a clean surface. My buddy sprayed a set of Jeep rims with the raptor and they turned out great. He worked at a high end 4x4 shop at the time.
Kevin

Yeah, probably the best bet. Have a trip in 8 days..... We will see, Im going to hit it with the grinder tonight to see how it comes off.

I had exactly the same problem with the roof on my truck when I bought it. I used a chisel to remove as much of the old sealant as I could, I then ran a messy line of Sikaflex 221 over every seam and rivet. When it was dry, I coated the whole roof in a nasty roof sealant paint called Acypol. Its an extremely thick acrylic paint/resin with lot of fibres suspended in it. I embedded a 3 inch wide scrim over all the seams and gave the whole roof a couple of coats. The finish is rough and looks terrible, but the combination completely solved the leaks on my roof and their is no sign of it degrading after 7 or so years out in the elements. I'd expect there are equivalent products the US.

Cool, that sounds like a decent end product. I spoke with the rep from Tri Van, he was very surprised it failed. I have the product and am they use now, so I will Google. It's a polyurethane.

I spent a couple Hours with the wire cup grinder going at it. I cleaned up along the seam and around suspect rivets. I'm going to lay a coat of skia 1a over it tonight.

The roof issue.....

Across the front. Obviously failed.

Peeled off easily. Luckily there is a big layer of buytyl there, so its not leaking there.

But the sides don't have much butyl, and are leaking. Hard to see but you can see the cracks in the middle (i fixed the worst ones without taking pics)

So I took a knotted wire wheel to that area down the middle allllll the way around. That sucked. But it left me with a clean strip that hopefully the Sika will bond nicely too. I got the bare aluminum primer to use as well.

Center ground down. Scrub brush and acetone came next. Then Sika 260 primer

Front edge got a red scotch brite, acetone. Then the primer.

Not pretty, but should be water tight.

All sensors except this one came out with some penetrating oil and heat. Not buying a damn new one!

Huge thanks to Ryan at Bahn Camper Works, http://www.bahncamperworks.com, he sold me his last shower unit, and it seemingly was the last one in stock in the US. Thanks again!

Not the ideal location above the exhaust, but the only place it wanted to fit.

Very cool updates. Nicely done. We used the AC for 4 days straight, in Whistler BC of all places - 88 to 90 degrees last 2 days. Crazy

And already Burn Ban in effect. Sad

Yeah we ran it last weekend too. It was nice actually! Need to figure out how to keep it stored though, It tried to kill me on heavy braking. Sits next to the toilet, but my bungee cord didn't hold....
