My friend and his family came out with my wife and I today to go some snow explorations. We both live in Grand Junction so exploration options are plentiful for us. The area that we went to go explore was where my wife and I usually go cut down a Christmas tree every year. We had explored this area previously but went further than we ever had today in the snow. We broke trail for 90% of our little trip.
The rigs.
We are both running Cooper tires and they performed awesome. I have the St Maxx and Kelly had the St Pro. We started off at 40 psi and had good luck. Then we had the first and only extraction using a bubba rope. I was breaking Trail and had to use my Maxsa recovery boards. They worked pretty well and got me out. Kelly had to be tugged out after his 4Runner slipped into a ditch.
We aired down to 18 psi and the traction difference was astounding. We then drove through some two track to some neat vistas and spend some time just soaking in the view and some PBR.
