LR3 / Discovery 3 Coil Conversion +2" Question

Looks like it is a Terrafirma/Dunlop kit?

I don't see any Specs or Tech Info... Does the black box get hardwired in during installation and remain in the vehicle? Any issues with codes?

Can you post a pic of your rig so that we may check out the stance please? I'm really interested in this kit and would like to know more about it.

General (and probably dumb) question for MontyMog and Ray_G... When using these conversion kits, do the different off-road modes still work as designed?

I know this was sorta for MontyMog but I'll dump in my comments:
-Believe they are all originally Dunlop kits, at least in terms of the black box which is the true secret sauce. Then other folks re-brand or what have you (UK providers, AB, L8, etc).
-The dongle can either be flashed or hardwired. I never got my hardwire solution to work despite back and forth with AB's tech using pictures to illustrate that I had, in fact, wired it correctly and such. Unclear why, they gave up and I did too...because.
-All the functions still function, i.e. terrain response and what have you. Thus I have one light on, all the time, on the dash (the red air suspension light in the lower left of the instrument cluster). I've stopped caring about that even if illuminate lights do annoy me.

Lastly, a pic to show stance, and b/c this pic makes me happy.

Sorry for the confusion guys. By the coil conversion kit which comes with the black box from Lucky8. They will also sell you the SYA spacers to place on top of your coil's. This is what gave me the 2 inch lift. Also don't forget to get the Land Rover spacer for the rear struts. I believe they are seven dollars or something like that.

Coils.... I got the HD coils.

I wired my black box in and have no light. That being said I did not flash the computer prior. The first time I connected the module was hardwiring it in. I believe if you flash the computer first when you hardwired it in you will still have the light.

So in order to get a FULL two inches you had to run spacers on top of coils. This is why I think it would be possible to build some long travel coilovers. Does anyone have a set of coils laying around that could give me the Eye to tophat lengths. I have a buddy that is a Radflo dealer and we are talking about building a set of longtravel coilovers, or Bilstein Coilovers. You could in theory take the length of the stock shock, and add 2" and be within spec of those aftermarkets, yet more than likely have better performance with Eibach coils and a performance shock.

Are the tophat measurements provided earlier confirmed? I can use those drawings to get custom billet spacers and top hats made to mount a coilover.

What's the Land Rover spacer?, are you referring to the coil rubber that sits on top of the coil and under the top hat or an actual strut spacer to gain extra height

I wonder if ome would produce something like a bp- 51 system for the newer rovers ? Guys seems to love them on the 200 cruisers, which are big and heavy and after loading them up with gear are still getting the full 2.5" of lift.

Thanks

Thanks for all the response... Monty - Can you post a pic? I'd like to see how your stance compares to Ray's (which is an excellent looking Rover if I might add).

Thanks for the links... A couple of clarifying questions (sorry):

1. Does the kit for $870 come with the HD Coils, or did you buy those in addition; and, if so, why?

2. In regards to the spacer kit, did you go with the basic Street Kit? Any need to install the rods that it comes with?

3. How was the installation of both of these kits, pretty simple and straightforward?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Cheers,

Jared

I do not believe I paid extra for the HD coils. I did not buy it online I actually called lucky8 direct. Again I did not select one of the options on the webpage. When you call them direct you can buy the 2 inch spacers separate from everything else. I believe they were not that expensive. When I did the numbers it pretty much was the same cost as the Atlantic British kit. Installation with simple you will need an alignment afterwards.

I think the Duratracks were 31 inch tires and my KO2s are 32 I believe.

Thanks... Ray, it's hard to tell from the pictures; with the kit you have, would you say it's pretty close to off-road height?

When parked beside an EAS Rover in offroad height they are pretty much the same; nearly identical. Here's a shot, exact same size/make of tires.
