Checking M-416 wheel bearings

Can the bearings on a M-416 be checked like that on a car by jacking up axle and checking for movement?

Also, has anyone installed a grease fitting in the hub to add grease to the hub?

I have the stock axles so a Alemite fitting would work. Thanks

Yes, but the stock axles are pretty easy to disassemble and repack - just make sure to get the right socket for them.

I would check the bearings in-hand if possible - or just replace them if you are concerned. Cheap insurance.

You could drill and tap the dust covers to install a zerk, but it's just as easy to remove them, IMHO.
