Disc cooking over an alcohol stove

Was wondering if anyone has ever used an alcohol stove as a backup for their propane, butane stoves. I know that there would have to be a larger stand of some sort to hold the disc but didn't know if it would provide enough heat for the actual cooking.

Thanks for any tips you can share.

I love cooking with alcohol. Got several Trangia models. They are quiet, don't stink and no moving parts that can break. On the downside, the heat output is less than gas or propane. That means it takes about 10 times longer to boil water.
If you need to get things going fast, I would recommend propane.

Hope that helps.

The issue was that Alcohol just doesn't put out enough heat. None of my burners had enough flame spread and the disc it's self acted as a heat sink, especially in windy or very low temps.
