Two Mic's, one CB radio

Hi All

I have a midland Alan 48 CB radio (UK) in my LR90, that when loaded is a bit awkward for me and the passenger to access it easy without. (doesn't help the my passenger has short arms).

Has anyone had two microphones in parallel connected to one CB radio? I cant see why it would be a problem but I don't want to damage my radio if someone has already tried it.

Cheers

if you made a splitter box that included some diodes to keep from back feeding the mic not being used it should work. And not using both mics at the same time might be a good idea as well.

Do you think the voltage drop across the diode would result in a problem when transmitting?

I wouldn't imagine that it would but I can't say 100% positively.

If both mics don't have to be active at the same time a relay controlled switch box may be a better idea. A 12 volt switch to operate a relay (or a couple relays) to activate one mic or the other. The switch could be mounted in the center console so either driver or passenger could switch the mics.
