Hello

I bought this Volvo TGB 1314 6x6 almost 5 years ago. but really first got started with the transformation now, from military vehicle to a Expedition Camper! Will try to post some more pictures later on, as build is going forward. Mercedes Benz OM606.910 engine with 6-speed gearbox are 50% ready. And a emty alcove glassfiber body, is ready for the last parts.

Very cool project - interested to see it progress. The challenge on these has been getting enough cooling via the small radiator location - don't go cheap on the radiator is the advise I've heard. You might check out the forum at www.real4x4.com for more Volvo C30X builds and support.

Welcome too!

hi Haf-E

also heard that the radiator would be too small, also bought one that is 40-50% bigger. I will try to get two powerful fans on, so I'm sure good airflow.

gearbox with 6 gears from a Mercedes E270 CDI, and the clutch is from Sprinter with greater torque. Toyota corolla shifter for Volvo transfer case.

Very nice project. How much more Hp/Tq from the new engine? The 6 speed should help as well with the low axle gears.

I'm not familiar with the TGB 1314, looks like a lot of extra bends in the exhaust pipe, or did you add a burrito cooker? :sombrero:

Hi.
Wiki says: 100 kW (136 PS; 134 hp) @5000 rpm. 210 N·m (155 lb·ft) @2200 rpm.
It should be theoretically 75-80 km/h @ 2200 rpm. in 6 gear with Volvo portal axles. I chose om606.910 without turbo to make it easier for myself and keep the price down, and get the mechanical pump! Did not change much on the exhaust, used the same bracket. but went up by 1/4 inch. worst thing is that, I have not finished exhaust, still need 1,5 meters :D

pictures from servo build. power steering from a G-Wagon and universal joints from a ML W163(right in the picture) fits perfectly with the 3 inch pipe. Clutch lever should have a little swing to go completely free of new steering column. Used the original clutch slave cylinder from a W210. Still need to install the power steering pump.

Hello love your build.
Does your clutch set up use a dual mass flywheel?

I'm doing a very similar build...tgb1314, om606 TD with dieselmeken 7.5mm element mechanical pump and planning on using the 722.6 auto (w210) with the ole fejer? Controller...but I'd rather keep it simple without the auto trans processer if possible.

How much Power can the E270 6speed handle?
Cheers Warren

Hi one2many

No, I found out there were some problems with the dual mass flywheel. there were many company that makes set with single flywheel for a good price. but rpm sensor on the side of the flywheel, does not fit anymore, i would not need it soo.. Mercedes E270 gearbox handle 400 Nm / 295 ft-lb. is way above what i need.

Do not know him Ole Fejer, but he is apparently Dane :) It will be a good running TGB with om606td, and dieselmeken 7.5mm element, and automatic transmission. All that power in your TGB :roost:

Great build!! I was wondering if you had to move the chassis cross member behind the transfer case back to fit the MB diesel? Also would you have any pictures of how you made the coupling between the gearbox and the Volvo transfer case? I'm doing the same 606TD auto conversion as one2many (Warren), we are both in Australia. Look forward to your updates
Cheers

Hi Tomcamper and G'day Nick
Would you mind passing on the details for that custom flywheel? Yes I too believe Dual mass would not work in this kind of build.

Even though Nick and I both have 7.5mm dieselmeken pumps our power won't be huge, we had them built with only moderate diesel output (90cc) to be used with factory turbo set up. With our set up we should make around 250 hp with good fuel economy...that's the aim. This should be more than enough in a Volvo. We've also got some higher ratio 5.99:1 rings and pinions to help out with keeping RPM's down a little. Are you staying with the factory ratios?

Looking forward to your updates.
Cheers Warren
