Land Rover Progression

Factoid

Three criminal heroes
Since I seem to have an obsession with vehicles that are expensive to fix when they break. Meaning I better know how to fix them when they do or that's why my garage is full of Land Rovers and Porsches in various states of disrepair.

I'm curious how your progression (obsession?) with LRs occurred. I'll start.

1967 Series IIa 109 bought in 1995, sold in 2002 (moved to London)
1976 Series III 109 bought in 2016 (kill me in it)
Lusting after Defender 90 (bury me in it)

Oh, here are a couple of Porsches in various states of repair:

Spent several years on and off working for a Land Rover specialist independent so had a chance to sample the goods before buying. Not all of my purchase and sale experiences were sensible or of my own volition but here it is: -

Ex-Military 109 SIII, sold when changed job and acquired works car. Not very pleasant but solid and probably still lives on.
1984 90 NA Diesel HT, trialling and do-everything truck, tatty and battered but solid and bulletproof. Sold due to emigration (that never happened)
1984 110 V8 SW, trialling and do-everything truck, quite smart but utilitarian. Excellent off road, disastrous fuel consumption. Sold due to kids arriving and needing something usable everyday.
1984 90 NA Diesel HT (same one again), exported to Canada and sold whilst I was living there.
1991 110 CSW 200TDI. Painted lady (body & chassis rotten), everything else superb. Sold for export.
1991 110 CSW 200TDI. Bought as spares & repair, flipped within the week.
1997 Discovery 300TDI. Rotten, rotten, rotten. Too far gone, sold for scrap.
1991 Discovery 200TDI. Nice truck, hydraulic winch, RAI and really good condition body (bizarrely). Not sure why I sold that one ....
Now: 2007 Freelander 2 (LR2). Best truck I ever owned, hammered off road without issue or getting stuck, reliable, smart, safe. Now our "sensible" car. Will stay with us until it expires.
Now: 2007 110 CSW Puma 2.4 TDCI. Best 110 ever. Loads of power, economical (30 UK MPG), has air conditioning, nothing stops it, and in Keswick green, coolest truck ever !!!. Will stay with us until I expire :)

Never had a Porsche, nor felt the need. Audi A4 3.0 TDI Quattro my absolute favourite non-LR fast car. Tows like a Defender, goes like a train.
