Any suggestions out there for a good bottle jack? I am keeping my eyes out for one of those german made, two-stage Land Rover jacks. I like the one offered by alltrade on Amazon, mainly due to the cradle type head on it, but size and weight is probably up there. I might steal the bottle jack off our Excursion or look for one of those too!

I will get a hi-lift when I get around to adding sliders. Atm, I don't have any jack points for it

I carry this (but with a 6 ton bottle jack sourced locally from Wally World):

Available from Bogert Manufacturing: https://safejacks.com/collections/b...ack-bottle-jack-recovery-kit-with-bottle-jack

I also carry this 8" x10"Compact Jack Stand Base, also available from Bogert Manufacturing:

This would be for our OME lifted Xterra. The Excursion is mainly used for our restaurant duties, more of a workhorse

Only bottle jack I'd consider for any off pavement work would be a 2 stage type - these are pretty cheap...but you get the idea - 12"+ lift is actually useful once the dirt compresses...

A cheaper option I might look further into. One could just get a welder to make a quick "slip-over" cradle out of steel

I really like that safe jack, but for the money, I think I might as well get sliders and a hi-lift.bust not in the budget for now

Unijack 6000 all-in-one vs other bottle jacks and/or Hi-Lifts

I see you know of the Unijack 6000, as referred to by your link above. Are you considering getting one? I bought two, recently, and have used them in my home rebuilding (rafter & joist replacement), and in working on my squareback trailer. I used them on the trailer, just yesterday, to remove the wheels, for which they worked well. But, since they only have a 10-inch lifting range,
Amazon product description said:
This Powerbuilt 6,000 pounds Unijack safely lifts and holds Unibody and body-on-frame vehicles. This jack eliminates the need for separate jack stands, with a patented design that combines the jack stand and hydraulic bottle jack in one unit. The safety bar locks the unit at desired height, and the wide steel base adds stability. This Unijack features a 3 ton capacity, and a height range of 11 inch to 21 inch. Perfect for SUVs, trucks, vans and crossovers.
it might not give the amount of lift you seek. There's a thread about jacking choices here:http://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/35801-Changing-a-flat-on-lifted-trucks-tall-bottle-jack-or-hi-lift

Like most off road enthusiast I carry a lot tools and stuff, and in my XJ it tucks nicely between the back seat back and the rubber maid tub in the cargo area, I have 2 tubs across the back and a tool box next to them all strapped down neat and tidy.

I use a two stage mechanical screw style bottle jack out of a 80 series land cruiser in my Tacoma. I use a piece of very thick (about 2") plywood I glued up as an "offroad base" to spread the load out, which is carefully routed out on the top layer to firmly accept the jack base.
