I am building an '07 V-8 T4R for off road exploring. I have a complete build thread on..T4R.org and I didn't want to clog up every board, so I am linking my complete build here...http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/227470-sunpilots-4runner-official-build-thread.html I will update this thread as I progress.
Since buying my 4R last autumn, I did an upgrade to the suspension...lift, UCA's, etc. I upgraded the wheels and tires. I finished the front bumper, except for wiring the winch. I will doing the wiring after I install the dual battery setup. I finished engine maintenance...did timing belt, water pump, valve cover gaskets, checked valve clearances, cleaned MAF and throttle body, new plugs, fresh oil and coolant. I also replaced both CV axles, one had a torn boot, so I decided to do both of them at the same time, and I replaced the diff seals as well as the seals on the knuckles at the same time.
Now, I'm on to the rear bumper design and fabrication phase.
Here are a few pics on my progress so far.

Here are a few pics of my rear bumper build progress:
Took off bumper and tow hitch

Cut off rear frame cross member. I did this because my new design will fit better and be tucked closer to body and higher, giving me more departure angle.

I will cut off the spare tire carrier and brackets. This will give me space to install some sort of fresh water tank in the place the spare tire used to occupy.

I have the welds ground down and cleaned the rear of the frame. Now, I can start building a new rear cross member and tow hitch support. This will also be the support for a new bumper, recovery hooks, and the dual swing out system I will create to carry my spare tire and extra fuel cans.

I have a lot of work to do and I will update this thread after I make some progress. If you would like to follow along more closely, please check my full build thread.
