Share the earth

Hi all

This is probably a stupid question for those who know.

i have a MB which is 24v - earth for the vehicle, I am putting in a 12 volt system for lights through dedicated batteries and a dropper, can I also earth that through the chassis, or do I need to do earth return?

You should be able to share the earth without issue - in fact many of the "droppers" just have a single terminal for the negative connection. If yours has separate terminals - you can "ohm" it out to see if there is continuity between the negative terminals - if there is, then you are good.

Never have seen one that doesn't allow for the negatives to be connected - but in england there were positive earthed vehicles - so who knows what you might find over there.
