1971 K5 Blazer

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but I just inherited a 71 K5 blazer. I've always wanted an adventure right but I can't find anyone using anything that old. Any tips or suggestions?

Had a '72 Blazer back in the day. Saw a lot of use in Africa and South America. There is a Facebook group dedicated to old Blazers.

There is quite a few Old Iron fans out there

I don't see a problem with running older vehicles and your blazer fits right in. There are events solely for old vehicles in both Arizona and Utah and of course old vehicles are welcome at any run. If you are okay with maintaining a vehicle, then stick with your Blazer.

I drove a 78 blazer as a chase truck for many years. A good solid truck will last forever if you take care of it.

I had a 71 Blazer about 22 years ago (EDIT: WHOOPS, Time flies! It was 32 years ago, 1985, that I got rid of it. Dang, where does the time go?)

That generation of Chevy Truck (67-72) is rightly regarded as a classic. Probably one of the best looking truck designs in automotive history.

The great thing about those old Blazers is that you can take the whole roof off, not just the rear part of the roof as in the later 70s models. They are great looking trucks and extremely capable off road with their short wheelbase.

Ah love the blazer campers! So unique. I want an IH scout version.

My dad has a 72 K5, Original everything, 66k on the odo.

They're awesome trucks and easy to work on. If you remove the inner wheel wells you can literally sit inside the engine area to work on it.

I like what he did with the hood, to get a better sight line.
Had a '73 Blazer (first year of the square body, but still had the fully removable top). Was a great vehicle. :beer:

Mine is a 1970 Suburban which has been updated with TBI fuel injection, 700r4 auto and lots lots more...

I have to say I didn't catch that in my first look. It is (in my not so humble opinion) a hideous deformation. That said, I get why he did it and it's not like hoods are "rare" for that truck so I'll bite my tounge and leave it at that.

Bighazzard, as you can see, there are a ton of people running old iron. Give that Blazer a good once over and get out there!

It may be a fiberglass aftermarket hood. I believe there were hoods like that sold for these vehicles back in the day.
