LHS saddle tank lift.jpg

Face lift project part one
get those bloody fuel tanks up off the ground

LHS saddle tank lifted 3" moved forward 4"

so now the lowest part is the transfer case
nothing I can do about that

RH tank is next

Then im thinking parabolics
been meaning to do the suspension since 2009
but ATW didnt get any into the country when the wife wasnt watching the visa card

Still not sure what to do with the body
But im planning a flash as dash pod to go with the roof and centre console

Sounds good Stu. Look forward to seeing the progress. The parabolics have been good over the years and we are looking at doing them on our new rig. Are you planning another trip?

So Stu... I guess that you have given up on selling your truck. :)
What did you have to promise SWMBO???

Hey Owen
Not given up
but not really trying
as you know its a hard marketplace selling this type of vehicle
i figure its worth 2/3 of what insurance would pay out
so where do you put its value

But I own it, Ive had it since new, its regularly serviced and its reliable
not sure i could say that buying a replacement vehicle

and yes before you say anything I now thats contradictory

But i figure ill clean up the underside myself
do the suspension
maybe re design the body work
and give it a fresh coat of paint
(not beige)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this. I'd like to see how you work out a dash pod. I don't know if you can source one, but an old Japanese Landcruiser fire service truck had a nice dash pod that fits well. I've got one here that I've been meaning to install, might actually do it one of these days.

"so we can be close to the grandkids we never see" how true is that, lol.

Snap
RH saddle tank lifted 3 " and moved forward 4"
now they are even again

next job new exhaust tail pipe between the tank and guard
stop that dump pipe throwing soot all over the inside of my blingy rims

^ When you rotate your tires, is it one go around with the raised white letters on the outside and the next with them inside?

bling is everything so the standard 5 wheel rotation just doesnt cut it
so its diagonal swap across the body
RH rear to LH front etc
of course that means getting the ally polish and elbow grease out cause the insides of the rims get putrid with road muck
teach me for having shiny wheels

dash pod 1 sml.jpgdash pod 2 sml.jpgdash pod3 sml.jpg

Tanks raised, new exhaust system on its time to build a dash pod
lets face it we all know trucks run better and go faster with a row of gauges
templates drawn
cardboard model made (to check the fit)
framework for the pod built
note the visible air gaps will be taken up by a thin sheet of foam underneath the vinyl cover

what gauges
not sure yet but looking at 62mm faces for my old weary eyes

gauge pod 3 ggs.jpg

getting there
3 engine gauges installed
just waiting for the digital clock and fuel gauge for the left hand tank

note the stretch in the material on the RHS
thats called charecter

Looks nice. May I ask how did you attach this fixture on the top of dashboard? (inside brackets & screws, glue ??). Photo if possible.

Planning on a alluminium flat bar bent and held in place by adhesive velcro.
Worked a treat on the last one i built and no holes or drilling
