I have an 84 Econoline ambulance with a sealed and insulated fiberglass roof with lighting in it.
I am trying to figure out if/how/where to cut into it (I want to install a roof fan and perhaps a skylight), or even if I should simply cut out the interior portion to provide another six inches of headroom.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information about these roofs, and I'm curious if any of you have been through something similar?
As you can see it is a single piece of moulded fiberglass. When I look through from the cab, I can see insulation and wires running into the cavity, but there are no access points from on top or underneath, with the exception of the lights, which are just small holes
I suspect that the unit was constructed, holes cut for lighting, wires snaked through and connected, and then fiberglass insulation was slid into the cavity before it was mounted to the frame.
If you've seen or worked on something similar, I'd appreciate some feedback.
Thanks!
