Beautiful colors in the park. Only been there once, but had a blast. The Thirsty Goat, in Lajitas, was a main memory. And the golf course that crosses over the border on one of its holes.

Boquillas?

The village across the river from the handmade crafts display has to be Boquillas. Was it?

Did you venture out to Big Bend Ranch State Park or was all of your travel in the National Park?

Nice pics!

The village behind the trinkets is Boquillas.

I did not go to the Big Bend Ranch State Park. This was my 4th trip to Big Bend and I have been to the ranch. I normally go to the ranch with motorcycle friends (this time I took motorcycles and a jeep to Big Bend). When we spend a day at the ranch, we eat at the bunkhouse. Since the bunkhouse is now closed, we did not make the trip over there. I also heard that there is a new ranger in the park and he is unfriendly to motorcyclist.

Great photos! What is that pink snake? We saw one of those when we were at Big Bend last year too. It was at least 5+ feet. (looked to me to be about 100 feet long but, then again I am DEATHLY afraid of snakes so it might have been me "over" estimating.)

Probably a coachwhip, a.k.a. "red racer" snake.

Around here 5 to 6 ft length is common. They are fast movers. Linked article notes a range of colors including pink:

The snake is a Coach Whip - eats young children for breakfast. :)

I also visited the Reptile Museum in Fort Davis.

We looked and looked for Tarantulas in the wild, but only found this one in a cage:

If you haven't seen a Jackrabbit move, watch this movie:

Big Bend is a great place to visit. Best of all, you can enjoy Big Bend in the winter (without being cold and wet).

Nice Pics! I was there this spring also and had a great time. I did Old Ore from south to north, man what a beating! Cool scenery, but it was a rough ride to say the least.
