Aerostich is a great place to find gear that works well for moto camping.

For a compact rain shelter, take a look at the Kelty Noah tarp. Its super light weight and would be great to set up if its raining, so you could set up your tent in a dry area, or hide under in a down pour. I've often wondered if its a full on rain storm, how can you set up your tent without having everything you got completely wet?

Are you using th little Exponent sleeping bag? Packs to just a bit bigger than a football? So far its been my favorite sleeping bag ever... well for fall and spring.

For rain shelter... i use a poly tarp... 8 bucks at wal-mart. roll it up and strap on your kit. Cheap, effective, light enough. String it up between a couple trees so you can setup your tent rain free....

I have a Eureka ExoII tent. Its great because it has no rainfly. So setup in the rain keeps the inside dry. Its vented well enough for spring and fall, but winter (here down in the 30s) the condensation sucks... Same for summer... not enough vent for summer.

We have been using a pair of the PICO's for a few months. They are much nicer than all the other typical folding-compact chairs we own.

The PICO chairs are comfortable, after a long day in the saddle. It is hard to beat for size, when folded up, and comfort when opened up. After you have spent a $100 on a few other chairs, and many evenings in discomfort, you may wish you had spent your first $100 on a PICO.

thanks for the input.
I was looking at the pico chairs ,,they look great ,,but 100 bucks, yikes!.
.

What sort of chair do you want? There are tri-leg stools that are about 16x3" folded. Also, thermarest makes some little cushion type chairs.

Both compact.

I agree with hltoppr, toss the lantern. Get a Black Diamond or Petzl headlamp. Not good for area illumination, but does most of whatever you'd need light for.

Kermit chair, the choice of many.
Pricey now, even when I bought mine 7 years ago it was $75.
The best part is, it will last a long time and I've had a buddy who is 6'9"
and 320 lbs. sit in it and not break it.

I love my Kermit Chair. It's even survived a Toga party 2 months ago.

Did I mention that I'm 6'3 and 280?

The PICO's are nice, I sat in one at Cabelas; but I could feel it "compress" when I relaxed. I'm not saying that it would hold me, but it's something about the plastic and metal mix.

You might think that sticker shock of Kermit is a lot, but it really IS worth it...

My wife and I moto camp on a Vstrom 650 and use REI Flexlite chairs, panniers for tables and an Ice Mule Cooler (looks like a dry bag).

I have a Trek Ultra chair from Amazon that I sit in for a few hours every night. I love it (since I choose it over the sofa)
