mini portable backpacker grill on kickstarter

Here it is, I thought it was pretty interesting: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/671831525/bison-rolling-grill/description

Vs existing grilliput (cheaper @ $30): https://www.ucogear.com/portable-gr...e-grill-duo-gr--1?returnurl=/portable-grills/

From reviews, grilliput seems to be finicky to put together and deforms in fire (how?!). Bison seems easy to setup, but teflon? I thought that was a nono at high temps.

Anyway thoughts? Other options out there? I love the idea of throwing a mini grill in a backpack or truck.

I wouldn't recommend the Bison Rolling Grill unless you actually know and control the temperature of your coals. Teflon is only safe up to around 400°F. Any higher than that it starts to degrade. It melts at 620°F.

Teflon is terribly overrated for camping and roughing it, and can be totally unhealthy on multiple levels as noted above ... especially when removed from the fairly standard operating procedures of the typical home kitchen.

Boiling water will remove stuck food from anything as long as you pour said boiling water on before the "stuck food" turns to concrete.

Hiker, Overlander, Camper, even the home kitchen ... everybody has the wherewithal to boil water.

For backpacking?

Certainly not anything that requires burning wood.

For backpacking the most realistic option is a good old MSR WhisperLite.

Designed NOT to grill...

Did you see the line about airflow through the grill bars to prevent burn marks? I think this is the first grill I've ever seen that is specifically designed NOT to grill the food. The rolling part is a sort of cool/innovative idea, but I'm not a customer. I do love seeing products come to market though. Good luck to them!
