Hello everybody,

First please be cool with my bad english .

I'm on the way to buy a nice rig: 2001 Silverado V8 8.1l and 1997 Lance Squire 4000. The both seem very clean and all is working fine.

But, there is always a "but" , the Chevy has a little more than 200 000 miles, a part of them with the camper. So is it too much or is it capable of going 100 or 150k more? I'm from Europe and not really familiar with those huge truck.
What are the particular things I must have to check.

The rig is now in South America, so I can't ask a dealer to have a look.

Thanks for your help,

Bruno

Look for rust. Check the condition of the oil, scan for codes. If it has been well taken care of it should last that long. I've owned my 02 Avalanche since new and have always changed my oil at the 3000 mark - I do my own oil and filter changes. Pulled the pan a few months ago to change the oil pump o-ring and the bottom end looked as clean and shiney as brand new. In other words - it's al in how it was treated.
