External Door Locks

I've seen commercial vans and utility bed trucks use these:

Ugly as sin, not easy to use, but if you want your rig's doors to stay locked, they are the ticket.

OTOH, I've seen a transient break a car's side window with his elbow just to get a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard.

Bottom line...don't make your rig attractive to the knuckleheads. Buy a console safe or strongbox and keep yoiur expensive stuff in there. And if you can afford it, employ some electronic anti-theft technology.

One of my Contractors recently had his construction trailer broken into. The pro thieves are now carrying portable 18 volt grinders, so they simply ground the locks off. They took his high value tools (laser level, honda 2000 generator, Milwaukee/Hilti stuff, etc.) and were gone in minutes. Cost him about 6k for a 5 minute thief job.

Disgusting.
