Black Box Radio clone private label or just coincidence

Ran across this and it look familiar to a radio that has gained some popularity here on the forum. It appears to be an open configuration that allows customization. The M radio appears to be a locked down version that is not used programmable. Software and a VHF version is available. Lot of possibilities for the technically inclined. GMRS, GMRS Repeater, 70cm and 2m Ham, 70cm and 2m Repeater, Crossband 70cm <> 2m Repeater. Imagine a base camp GMRS Repeater if you had multiple groups going different directions.

I don't know who makes which ones and doesn't really matter. Probably made in same factory.

Looking at the price, they took a $60 Chinese radio, slapped a blackbox logo on it and changed the price to $250. with the exception of the "base" you can get those radios a whole lot cheaper.

Actually they took a $249 radio and unlocked it for $309 so for $60 more you have an open configuration programmable radio.

Don't want to distract from a forum supporter but looks like identical radio just with different firmware.

No, Midland took a cheap Chinese radio and slapped their name on it, and got FCC Type Acceptance (which certainly has value) and resells it for $250. Black box is selling the original cheap Chinese radio with their name on it and no value added for even more than a name brand like Midland...
