Our group has a weekly shop night where we work on our off road vehicle, On occasion we come across a inexpensive Jeep that needs some work and as a group several of us buy it as a project vehicle. All work together to make it a bit more trail worthy. We've been casually looking for our 5th project when I get this call from an older couple that was given my number by a local garage. Turns out their older (89 XJ) didn't pass the California smog and they have decided to sell it since it isn't used any more as a tow vehicle behind their motorhome.
I went out and took a look at it. Turns out that is an almost exact replica of my first off road vehicle that started it all for me 27 years ago.
I brought it over and did a few comparison pictures, I'd forgotten just how very small and low a fully stock XJ really was:
Thanks,
Fred
