Trans-Sahara 1986 on a 2WD Fat Bike

I recently unearthed a great story of a French guy who built himself a novel, three-wheeled, part-time 2WD / lifting axle bike and cycled it 2000 miles to Timbuktu in 1986.
Fully loaded with 72-litres of water, it weighed as much as a moto.

when i read the title i thought the date was an error for a christini bike.
