Decided to do a cargo/sleeping platform..

Rebuilding my g wagon after my initial two year trial ownership and trips resulted in a "keep forever" verdict.

I wanted a better cargo situation in the back, and to be able to sleep across the back seats and cargo bay on occasion.

I wanted it to be fairly light but strong enough to stand on. Aluminum was the material of choice here.

Aircraft track makes for easy cargo management. I may do a strip of it down the center as well if it makes sense after loading it down.

A partner camp stove is going to go on a slide underneath towards the passenger side, with storage underneath for cookware.

The other side will stay open storage. Batteries will go all the way at the front behind the seat.

Cool stuff. Thinking about building a set up like this myself pretty soon here.

I appreciate the inspiration.

This is the finished state. Turnbuckles hold it to the factory hard points.

Very neat. What are the dimensions in the back of the G Wagon, can you lie stretched out on the platform? I probably couldn't being nearly 2m tall!

It is almost exactly 1.5m straight shot to the rear to front of the rear seat. 1.8m to the back of the front seat. And about 2m diagonal. So barely, and not comfortably.
