Prepare for longer delays when flying

Petapixel reports that TSA will now require all electronics larger than a cell phone to be scanned separately. Cameras, tablets, computers all will have to be removed from their bags and cases, placed in a single layer in a plastic tray, and scanned during the pre/flight security check.

It's not clear if modern lenses will also require separate screening. Most lenses include a small electronic part that communicates with the camera body.

Is that new? Maybe the camera part is new?
I feel like its been for years now you have had to take your laptop or tablet out and put in a tray.
May be the single layer part is new? I always do that though.

I can see my future having 5-7 plastic tubs just for myself ..and the line comes to a stop as I repack my crap on the otherside of x-ray

i still find it funny that not all airports are consistent. leaving san diego airport, they wanted shoes off and laptops in its own container, leaving DC they didnt give a **** and you could leave your shoes on and your laptop in the bad.
