Awing for JB hard top tent

I have JB hard shell tent, so far so good (I bought it second hand). The only problem I find is the entry and exit when it is raining. Had somebody done some kind of mod to incorporate some kind of mini awing above the entry, which would allow for relative protection against wet weather when getting in and out?

Saw you link, but not exactly what I am looking for, needs to be for the tent itself, not for the car. not to mention i do not have a sawing machine :-(

I bought my low-end plastic geartrain light-fabrics sewing machine chiefly for that project, ~$50USD new. Hadn't had my hands on a sewing machine in 35yrs. Basically re-learned how to use the machine while making a few smaller projects, before making my awnings. It's actually pretty easy once you get into it and you can literally make anything you want.
Fabric and craft stores have most of the goods and I've found ripstopbytheroll.com to be a great supplier with excellent prices and a wide variety of related goods. They've also got screen mesh.
