Montero LWB how much interior space?

Hi All,

Hoping for some advice re a Montero long wheel base.

I read somewhere recently that the rear cargo area in a Montero was huge, is this true?

Anyone travel with 2 large dogs in the back without putting the back seats down?

My Jeep is not large enough for travelling with my 2 kids + 2 dogs. We live in the UK so getting my ideal vehicle (Suburban) isn't an option for me.

I'm looking at getting a van/large MPV and it causes me pain every time I think on this.

Could a Montero be my saviour?

There is quite a bit of room behind the "middle" seat in my '05. Our 50 lb dog has plenty of room back there. You should go take a look at one.

You followed me, so now we're both lost
If you live in the UK, then these are known as the Shoguns. You even still have current production Gen 4 models with the 3.2l turbo diesel. Gen 3 and Gen 4 have almost identical specs with the only major changes being done to the outer appearance.

Build a platform behind the second row, and you will have plenty space to store gear underneath while your dogs will still have the entire rear space to stay. A makeshift cargo fence can help keep the dogs from ending up in the second row while traveling.

Imnosaint travels with 2 golden retrievers. He sold his Gen 3 for an H3 Hummer, then sold the H3 to buy his old Gen 3 back. :********:

He sold the h3 and bought a gen 2.5, but close enough. Quite a few owners will try a different platform and come back to the Montero, they simply make sense for the money spent.

Fantastic, thanks for the advice guys.

I'll have a read through that thread and check out a Shogun.

Sounds promising that imnosaint travels with 2 golden retrievers and I like the cargo space underneath the dogs, good thinking.

There's no way I could do that in the Jeep, it's just not tall enough.

Hopefully I won't have to look at a van/MPV after all.
