Weekender at Collegiate Mountains

Did a quick weekender with the son and the dog to make sure my gear works before the upcoming overland trip. Especially the winter aspects of it.

Had a lot of fun and had some changes to make before heading north.

1. The Springbar tent is awesomely built. Easily the highest quality camping thing I have ever bought.

That said setup wasn't very friendly without a small sledgehammer to make it go easier.

2. I need a roof rack. It isn't going to work otherwise.

3. The Coleman catalytic heater from the 1970s was highly necessary in 15 degree sleet and snow weather.

4. A cot is being packed. Too old to handle the ground anymore.

I heard that Vector. Last summer was my first with a cot. Then, went really wild and bought a RTT.

Great pic of your dog snoozing :)

Well we hit kit testing again. This time at Lake Seminoe in Wyoming. Warmer temps and a better setup...

Added a cot, more bag capacity, and some love.

I bought a Kni-co wood tent stove as it was needed.

Roof rack build. Trying to keep it light.

Truck seems to match the mud quite well.
