A synthetic line on a 9.5cti multi mount that came with wire?

Can one put a synthetic line on this winch as is or do I need to switch out the drum and fairlead too? The 9.5 that comes with the synthetic has the polished fairlead so that seems to be necessary. Is there a best place to get the replacement parts/kit?

The drum is: "Drum diameter/Length: 2.5"/9.0" (6.4cm/23cm)" but it doesn't say what it is made of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Matt,

Yes, you can put a synthetic rope on the 9.5cti that had wire on it. However, there are a couple of things you'll want to do. Firstly, make sure the drum is smooth and free of burrs. If there are burrs, it's a good idea to sand them down. The idea here is to prevent any possibility of abrasion.

Secondly, you'll want to replace the fairlead if it's been used with wire rope. You can either replace it with another WARN 73850 (https://www.warn.com/truck/accessories/hawse_fairlead.jsp) or better yet, the polished hawse (87914). The most important part is that it's smooth and free of burrs.

Hope that helps!
