I bought this recently as a project truck and have realized I don't have the time to wrench on it until after winter. Hoping to use the money toward another 3rd Gen 4R that needs less work.
This one would make a good cheap platform if you have the time. I test drove it about 30 miles and then drove it home, and I'll do my best to be up front about my thoughts on the truck. I consider ExPo a great group and don't want to misrepresent anything here.

Clean Carfax
Very minimal body rust (pictures show the only body rust on the truck)
Some frame rust/scaling from being a Michigan truck but not to the extreme that some of these 4R's suffered.
No major dents in body, does have some scratches. Perfect base for a trail truck.
The good:
Previous owner drove it every day, totally functional
4x4 shifts and engages smoothly
Recently replaced timing belt and water pump
Known issues:
Needs front brakes. Has the typical 4R shake from warped rotors
Needs a muffler and tail pipe
Tires are close to end of life
CEL on. Scanner said o2 sensor
Sunroof doesn't retract
Passenger rear window doesn't roll down
Oil leak. Previous owner just let it leak and topped it off. It's barely dripping while parked but the engine and undercarriage have a good coating. He said he added about a quart a month to it. My guess is valve cover gaskets and/or crank seal, but I haven't cleaned it up to find the leak yet.
Driver side lower ball joint has been replaced with a non factory part, which isn't the best choice in these trucks. If I keep it I would be doing both front LBJ's when I fix the brakes.
I truly believe this could be a solid truck with a bit of wrenching, which is I why I bought it. I think the convenience of the sale and the low cost just got me excited and I jumped before I really considered my available time. Only trying to get back what I have in.
