1989 Euro spec Troop Carrier Across the USA

Hello everyone!

Long time lurker—first post.

So I finally couldn’t stand NOT having a Troopy anymore and imported one (actually, two, but that’s another story) myself. This one came from Europe, so it’s LHD, which is a big plus. Finally picked it up from the port in Newark last week, and drove it up to Cape Cod (in-laws House) to clean it up a little and prepare for driving it back home to CO. Heading out tomorrow and will try and update my progress here on this thread.

I’ll try and get some photos up soon, but somebody could probably save me a ton of time if they could share with me how to post photos to a thread here. Lol!

Happy to post pics, but I don’t see where/how to go about that. I’m traveling, and just have my phone to work with. Someone wanna throw a newb a bone and walk me through it?

Here’s a photo (I hope)

Thanks for the tip. Hope this works. One pic of the troopy as it looked waiting for me to retrieve it from the port at Newark (the spare was inside during shipment). The other photo (with spare tire attached) is after I cleaned it up a little and was heading out to start the trip west.

Found it in France. I spent most of the summer in Europe, and used my free time scouring the countryside for a clean troopy. Here’s a photo of it parked next to my brother-in-law’s Jeep.

So cool. You'll have to bring down to the Rising Sun Club meet and show it off! Safe trip!

Home in CO

I wants!!!

Lol! Well, I almost hate to tell you that I’m actually importing two of these. The plan was to pick the nicest one for myself and sell the other one at some point. Looks like ‘some point’ has already arrived, though, and I don’t even have the second troopy here yet (soon!). Yup, I already have an agreement in place for the sale of this one.

Been having a blast with it on my road trip. Left Cape Cod, drove south to Nashville (to outrun the cold weather). Then west to CO, which is home, to get plates. Then I’m headed to CA for Thanksgiving. It just shims along, no drama at all.
