98 Master Cylinder, fluid level sensor float

My brake light came on recently and I traced it to the float in the reservoir. It appeared to be getting hung up a bit. I moved it up and down about 20 times and that fixed it for a few days. Light came on again this morning. Other than replacing the whole assembly, are there any tricks possible here to fix it? I’m not wanting to try and mess with that float much more than I already have, it seems to be pretty delicate. Does the float come off?

On occasion, I've found the diaphragm in the cap has become inverted. An inverted diaphragm will push down on the float sensor, causing the brake light to come on. The diaphragm needs pushed back up into the cap. Then the master cylinder needs refilled to the correct level.

This happens to mine constantly. I've just been living with it. Happened with my original master cylinder, and with my new one i installed this year.

Havent been able to figure it out.
