Unistrut for Artificial Gutters?

I am working on the roof rack for my CTT. I was going to go with artificial gutters, but then I got thinking that if I mounted a full-length piece of Unistrut on each side just below the top drip rail it would offer a lot more flexibility of where the crossbars go. Otherwise I am constrained to just running them where I can bolt the artificial gutters to the roof frames. I played around with a Thule gutter foot and a short piece of Unistrut and it seems like it will hold well.

Thoughts?

Seems like a good idea - you can get different versions of unistrut BTW - zinc, galvanized and even stainless steel. I considered doing the same on the roof of my sprinter van as well.
