FIDO- Ongoing Adventures

Since building FIDO our Fuso based camper 4 years ago we have travelled over 10k dirt road miles around the western US and Canada. Typically we spend 2-3 months a year on the road with the rest of the time split between Punjab, India and Salt Lake City, Utah. When we travel we like to be alone, and hence we usually find dirt road routes to get us away from civilization as much as possible. This is due to personal preference as well as the fact that fido eats dirt roads for breakfast and isn't that much fun at freeway speed. On average, it turns out we go about 80 miles per day which doesn't seem like a lot but 80 miles on a dirt road is a LONG WAY!!! We have met great friends and seen beautiful places along the way. There are many forks in the road we have left unexplored and our list of places we want to go seems to be getting longer not shorter! I won't bore you with details of all the trips, but thought it would be nice to share many of the videos I have put together along the way. My editing skills were questionable to begin with but have improved along the way. I am only going to post the videos that I feel turned out really well here but there are many more on my Vimeo page if you are left yearning for more(unlikely!). My intention is to keep adding content as I find the time to process it.(I already have a significant backlog with more trips piling up!)

Anyway, here you go!

Allan, Sakshi, and Fido

The first is Canyon Drive on our way home from Snowverland Expo a few years back. It was filmed in the midst of a flash flood. In retrospect, I don't recommend crossing high speed flood waters!

On the same trip, I was exploring a way to get off the high plateau near Bryce Canyon, and ran into Snow. Not sure if it comes across how sketchy this road was as it is off camber ice with a steep cliff to the downhill side.

While the production values are low this is one of the best videos as it is the only time I have gotten FIDO stuck. So far......

Fido Videos

This one is kind of fun. As it turns out you can make a pretty sweet one minute video from four months of footage!

Schnebly Hill road which goes into Sedona from the East. This road is marked as a highway on the maps. I am sure a rental car or two has met it fate there. Some guy wanted to trade me his Humvee for fido out there. Sakshi said NO WAY!!!

We got to meet up with some Earthcrusiers! Many good friendships developed around the campfire.

Castle Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada was one of those real hidden Gems you just stumble upon. It was an off road vehicle park with roads going way back into the mountains. Wish we had spent more time here!

Ghost River on East side of the Canadian Rockies was Stunning. The bears really kept us on our toes though.

Those nice Earthcruiser folks invited us to join them for a second year! We had a blast and covered a lot of territory in southern Utah over the course of two weeks.

Nevada has a ton of hidden gems, and if you want to be away from civilization you came to the right place.

We spent 5 weeks traveling 1500 miles of dirt roads in Southern Nevada crossing 18 mountain ranges. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Allan, it has been a while since I have read through your build thread; would you mind giving a brief summary of the truck dimensions, weight, MPG, tires and so on?
