Thoughts on Redarc....

Hey guys. So I have a 2009 f250 that I am in the process of putting together a aux battery system. Sense the f250 has a dual battery system from the factory for cranking the diesel I plan on adding a third battery (31M Odyssey) frame mounted to run my Snowmaster and a inverter to charge the cameras and drone. I have started looking at the Redarc 20A in vehicle charger and the BMS 30. I’d like to hear what you guys think about the two systems and if I’m on the right track or if you have a better idea. I like these because both have solar input. I’ll attach the links bellow to both systems bellow.

Hard to answer your questions without knowing the charging voltage of your truck. You may not need a battery to battery charger.

You may find these links useful:

-- Charging Up! https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/battery-charge-slides.pdf

-- Doubling Up: https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/dual-battery-slides-2016.pdf

In other words, you need to know what you are trying to do before you can decide how to do it.

All of that said, I have two REDARC battery to battery chargers in my truck. Why? Because I have a twisted sister/cross dressing 24v to 12v to 24v system.

So:

-- I have, use, and recommend the 40A battery to battery charger. (
https://redarcelectronics.com/products/dual_input_40a_in-vehicle_dc_battery_charger) Why? At 40A it is one of the larger of its type and, as noted, it can double as a solar controller. (I use this feature.) In my particular case, I can feed it 24v and it outputs 12v.

-- I don't think that "The Manager" is available in the US market.

Hope this is helpful.
