1990 E350 Superwagon XL Build

Some background...

After a few snow-birding trips south it was decided (Wife) why not get a camper van and explore right in our own backyard....So instead of buying someones rotten 30 year old beast, lets build our own!
We had all winter to find one but pounced pretty quickly on a real gem (sarcasm). Be patient as the conversion process of this once a Fire/Rescue van has just begun...

Former owner had given up after disassembling the top end of the engine with all the pieces in a tote box. Numerous holes in the floor mainly where the 15 pax seat brackets were. Myself with no real welding or Ford experience is about to jump straight into the deep end. :snorkel:

I'm going to use bed-liner on the rocker panels but don't know if I'm going to keep the black. Not a huge Ford fan but I do like the 3rd gen van the best.

Lots of rot and not a welder

Well after some probing we've made some nice holes and bubblegumed some patches in place. Again not a welder but i'm sure i'll be close when this project is done. Nothing a grinder and seam sealer won't fix! :)
After I got everything ground, seam sealed, and etch primed, I used some bed liner in the cab and barndoors then a dose of the finest rustoleum paint to cover it all up. Almost as good as new.

Finally got the floor in. Found some Silverboard stuff which I understand needs an air gap to work correctly? Well I threw it on the floor anyway. Better than nothing. Now to figure out some seat brackets to mount a legitimate seat in the back.

Well a few more sheets of Silverboard and a mile of TuckTape and its ready for walls. Tongue and groove is cheap but whom ever said it was easy was lying. Note to self....Start with square, level strapping. Ceilings starting to run crooked so off it comes and try again. (Not a Carpenter either)

Spring is finally here and the grass needs mowing. But I still found time to finish the walls, install some electrical jazz and start some cabinets.Counter1.jpgCounter2.jpgInterior1.jpgInterior2.jpgPanel.jpg

I feel your pain and I only did half of the back walls. Before you know, things star getting sideways.

Beautiful work. Nice transition between the walls and ceiling. I like the overhead cubbies.

In an unrelated not, I miss my F4.
