L track for mounting heavy items to exterior of camper?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has used L Track or E Track to act as a mounting surface on the side of a camper. Im thinking for things like hi-lift jack, shovels, maxtracks, jerry cans, awnings, etc.

It seems like a great way to have a flexible mounting surface, but I am not seeing much on google. Has anyone here tried this approach?

I've done something similar but only for lightweight stuff (traction mats and shovel) on my Astro van.

I am wondering the same thing. I would like to use L tack on the rear doors of the van to hold fuel cans or other stuff depending on the situation. It seems a perfect way to have a flexible mounting system with very low profile when it is not engaged in holding things. Here is a picture of one set up using what appears to be L-track. There are bolt fasteners which could be used to lock the Jerry can holders to the track. I see the L track used in vertical applications for seat belts so it seems like it should work. One should probably use a backing plate or tie into the door frame for support. a 20L can will weigh a bit over 40 lbs.
