Insurance for an overland expedition vehicle in South America

Has anyone had any success recently buying insurance for a overland expedition vehicle in South America (Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador)? My umbrella policy will provide me with liability coverage throughout South America (although I still have to review the policy to confirm that). And I understand that I my have to buy minimum liability insurance for some countries at the border.

I've also heard that ATM Seguros in Argentia sells insurance in Argentina and other countries with a Mercosur extension.

Does anyone have any advice? Should I try to buy insurance for our rig in the US for Central and South America? Or should we try ATM Seguros (and/or other companies) in South America?

Thanks!

Sure it's late, but if you still need it, I can get information on insurance companies that cover vehicles for mercosur.
