Let's See Custom Center Consoles

EMS WJ 2000

Observer
I am looking to build a custom console for my 2006 Mega cab and would like to see what others have done for their trucks to get some ideas.

I'd suggest looking in the radio subforum, lots of mods in there.

And my own, to house a CB and 2m HAM

There's a bunch of construction notes and detailed pics later in that topic

I looked in the HAM radio forum and didnt really see anything that I was looking for. Unless there is another radio forum that I did not see.

I'm in the EARLY stages of planning and have been looking for console ideas for over a year.

I can find off-the-wall custom audio work (and full custom fiberglass interiors) or simple screw plywood together type. Or there's the metal security boxes.

Not a lot in between.

Try checking into consoles for police vehicles. There are consoles for most domestic full size trucks and SUVs due to police, fire and ems use.

I took a used Gamber Johnson police console and swapped out my factory center console with it. I took a piece of plastic trim to Home Depot and had them match the color with a small can of latex paint to match the interior. There is a long list of available faceplates from several console companies that can fit just about any radio you wish, or you can even use a "blank" to cut out holes as you need. I used some sheet metal to fab up the small filler plate that bridges the gap between the cupholder and the console itself.

That's sharp looking!

I might just do that myself
