This is not a museum piece, we used it as the builders intended. Baja, Big Bend, the Four Corners, the Pacific Coast Highway, Death Valley. We have kept a totally incomplete blog of our travels at http://dormobile.blogspot.com
More pictures are there, too.
ADV Hub did a video with us a few years ago at the Overland Expo. Some things have changed:
My daughter recorded me pulling onto I-10:

The early history is unknown. It was imported into the US by what was then East Coast Rovers in 1995. Our friend John Hess bought it and drove it across the country to California with his family, and used it for then next 9 years. We went on a trip to the Four Corners and another on the Mojave Road with him, and when he put it up for sale we jumped on it.

It has some things wrong, of course, but I would drive it to Baja tomorrow if it weren't so hot there already. The rear crossmember and one chassis outrigger were rusty on it when we bought it and still have the same amount of rust on them. We actually bought the replacement outrigger but never installed it. The rear crossmember is available. Sometime when it was still in England the presumably rusty 6 cylinder chassis was swapped for a 4 cylinder military chassis, so the motor mounts were welded in. The rear driveshaft is supposed to go through a hole in a crossmember, but with the lift provided by military chassis and the differences between the 4 and 6 cylinder configurations, the driveshaft fouled on the hole, so the bottom of the hole was cut out. It also has the usual Series Defender door problems, the right rear requires serious slamming to get it to fully latch.
