1969 Jeepster

An acquaintance in Mayer, AZ, has a 1969 Jeepster Commando he wants to sell. This would be a project car at this point, because the transfer case and transmission are out of the vehicle, although still there and each is still together. The vehicle was used for traveling the desert back roads of Arizona, but the owner now has a business, kids, dogs, and such that demand his time.

The engine is a Buick V-6, but not the original. This one is an even-fire transplant of (I believe) 3.8L displacement. Dual exhaust. The transmission looks to me to be a TH350, and is likely the transmission from the donor car for the engine. T-case is a Dana 20. Dana 44 in the rear and an early Dana 30 in the front, both with Detroits. 15 wagon wheels. Swing-out rear bumper with tire carrier, fuel can carrier, Hi-lift carrier, and dual 2 inch receivers (left and right, presumably as ersatz tow points). Roof rack with extra lights. This was a going concern until the T-case was taken out, which suggests to me that the T-case probably needs some work. It did not look to have been broken, was not leaking that I could see, and I would have to ask why it was taken out in the first place.

Body and interior are original and still in pretty fair shape for a 1969 vehicle. Very little surface rust only, one rear quarter panel appears to have been dropped on a rock out on some back road, and at most would require some hammer time. Otherwise, doors, glass, and body work are in good shape. This would be a pretty fair 20 footer, and even a closer inspection was not that bad.

I don't have a price, and neither does the owner, so this would be entirely negotiable between any interested party and the owner. I don't have photos because I didn't have a camera with me the other day, but if anyone expresses interest, I can always go back out and take a few. If someone is interested, please respond here, or PM me.
