1979 Jeep (Warn) 8000 lb winch questions

I've got the winch off my Dad's old '79 CJ-7. It's a Jeep-branded Warn 8000 lb pull unit. Does anyone know anything about these things? It's been sitting in his garage since '81 or so, out of the weather but has some corrosion. If it's worth it, I wouldn't mind mounting it on my '09 Wrangler Unlimited. I'll try to get a few pics of it this evening. I *think* it's a Jeep model 8615, but will verify when I look at it tonight. Any info is appreciated..

|Ahhh the ol' 8274....Totally worth cleaning up and mounting to your jeep.
I have the same winch on my suburban, plenty of power.I bet if you hook the power to it, it will fire right up!

Yeah, for some reason the Jeep number made me guess it was an 8274 rebadged, especially since it was on a CJ in '79.

Nope your gonna need a special winch plate. Most winches mount with the feet down, 8274's mount with the feet forward.

So I'm going to need to cleanup the existing large plate. Then I assume it's going to require an aftermarket bumper in addition to the plate?

Thanks for the guidance. I've been out of the 4-wheel scene for as long as this winch has...

Well i looked around and it looks like you would have to buy a replacement bumper for your jeep as i don't see any plate kits
