I'm handling the sale of a friends 300GD. Please Email me for questions/trade offers. Hyterlancaster@yahoo.com
Asking $11,000 or trade.

Trades:
A well maintained T100, Tacoma, 4runner or willing to entertain offers on items similar that are well kept and preferable lightly modified with bumpers, lockers, 33s, etc. Really want something that can cruise 70mph and get 15mpg-ish on the highway.

Ok now the Mercedes…

163,154 or 263,154 km with further diving into the records soon I will get all the information I have on this so you can make your educated guess.*

The truck runs and drives great. I daily drove this rig for roughly a year, recently bought a car to commute in. The vehicle has a commanding presence that is unmistakable and courses through its veins straight into the driver while navigating the streets. The G cruises at 80KPH, it will do more but this is as hard as I cared to push it. I average 17-19MPG in mixed driving. From the time I found the G tucked in behind an old home until now I have taken care of…

repaired rusty hard lines to rear brakes, new rear brake wheel cylinders, all fluids changed (not the transmission, afraid of shocking it although I do top it off), hand brake repaired, new under hood rubber fuel lines and braided fuel lines, new filters both fuel and oil, new alternator, new belts, new battery, oil changes with Rotella *

Known issues and what I know about them…

The truck has some rust issues, you can gauge this from the pictures.

Diff locks- did work when I first had and tested the vehicle, but much like the brake lines their lines were rusted so they no longer seem to engage. The lines need to be replaced and the cylinders cleaned. All the parts for this project are easy to find through EuroTruck Importers and others… taking this truck off road to its full potential was never high on my list of to-dos because of time constraints, otherwise this would have been my first project

4x4- engages beautifully and works nicely. Vibrations are noticeable at speeds over 40kph. Low range engages and works nicely, although it grinds when trying to place in low range, I typically put the vehicle in neutral, shut it down, slip it into low and it worked for me.*

Fuel tank/system- the fuel tank has a small leak from where it took a knock (before my time or I would elaborate). I drained the tank and thoroughly cleaned near the leak and JB welded the tank. The repair worked nicely. It should be dropped, cleaned and brazed if to be done properly. This could be the reason the tank builds back pressure. If after a long ride you don't take the fuel cap off and let air into the tank the system loses prime to the fuel pump and makes re priming difficult. Fuel is pulled out of the lines back down to the tank. It took me nearly a year of dealing with inconsistent starts to figure this out. The truck would start in 15 degrees perfectly many days and then randomly not start after a 10 minute shutdown in 70 degree weather. If you pop the fuel cap off after its been run for a bit it resolves the problem totally. Before I knew what the issue was I installed a small inline diesel pump that pushes fuel up from the tank to the priming bulb so it was easier to get going. This is now obsolete, but it is there regardless in case of fuel prime loss.*

Rear back right exhaust hanger needs to be repaired.

Right rear spring mount needs to be replaced. Rust has gotten it. Again, another part easily found and project that is typical for this vehicle.

If I were to use this truck on the trail and for more comfortable cursing I would replace springs and shocks all the way around.*

Leaks oil from main seal

Leaks fluid from output shaft

Right blinker works and then doesn't at times. My best guess would be a ground wire issue.*

Fan motor needs to be replaced, its hard to keep the front windshield defogged at times. A small electric fan has been my solution thus far.

The dash odometer works, the other gauges come and go at their leisure it seems.

These are all the issues I know of with the truck. When I found the G I knew I had to own it and drive it. I fixed what it needed to keep moving down the road. Getting the damn thing to start after a 4 year sit was fun! The gentlemen who owned had become sick and passed away. I drove by this truck for years as a kid and never even knew what I was looking at. I love this truck but would like to see someone own it who could repair some of the issues noted and use it the way it was designed to be used; as a utilitarian purpose built SUV. This truck is an absolute joy to drive. Yes the truck is slow, yes it has some rust, yes it smells like an old diesel does, but its the most fun SUV I have ever been in and owned for these exact reasons.*

I am happy to entertain thoughts, offers, suggestions, test drives, requests for more information that I have omitted by mistake, shipping arrangement help, trades, etc.

That body rust is considered "severe" and will costs $1000's to repair. Posting additional pics of those areas would be a good idea. I've done those exact repairs several times on these trucks and it is always much more extensive than it appears on the outside.

And yeah, that screen name isn't the best. The older Rovers are more capable than just about any other group, stock. ;)

Pretty sure that he owns a land rover and his screen name is in part his real name.
