*** VEHICLE WAS SOLD ***

As the title says, I am placing my 1982 Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer 712M up for sale. The vehicle is garage-kept in Frederick, MD. It is stock, except for the 7 BRAND NEW BFG AT-KO tires (less than 100 miles on all of them and 0 miles on the spare). I also soda-blasted the vehicle to bare metal (exterior only) and had a black epoxy primer professionally applied less than 3 months ago (cost around $3900 for the soda blasting, epoxy primer, and Line-X in the truck bed). It is ready to be painted in whatever color you like, although the interior is still the stock color (kind of olive drab color). I purchased the vehicle about a year or so ago and drove it home from Fayetteville, Arkanses w/out any problems whatsoever. The vehicle was used in the Swiss Army for the 1st part of it's life before it was imported into the United States. The vehicle is titled and tagged in Maryland, and I drive it whenever I choose to (usually once or twice a week) just for fun. I purhcased it for $17,700 and spent over $5,500 for tires, etc. as listed above. It is up for sale for $20,000 or best REASONABLE offer. I also have a few other goodies for the vehicle that MAY go with it, depending on the offers that I receive. Sorry, but I'm not interested in any trades. Leave a message for me here or call me at 301-524-0463 if you prefer. Thanks. -Jon

IMPORTANT!!! Please note that the vehicle is currently black in color--the green color in some of the photos shows the original paint job, but it no longer looks like that. The pictures taken in the snow were taken by me about 10 minutes ago and show the vehicle in its current condition, with the rear portion of the top removed. The original top and the spreader bars/bows/etc. are included in the vehicle sale, and can be seen in the other pictures of the Pinzgauer w/ the Jeeps.

Nice Pinz. I've considerred one for sometime, but gotta ask, why the 6x6? Is the rear axle driven or a tag along? Not sure, but aren't they all 12V? Thanks

The 712M Pinzgauers normally drive on the rear 2 axles (turning the rear 4 wheels). You will notice in the interior picture that there are 3 levers--these are vacuum actuated (?) lockers. 1 lever engages the front axle, 1 lever LOCKS the rear 2 axles, and 1 lever LOCKS the front axle. Therefore, you can have 4 wheel drive, 6 wheel drive, LOCKED 4 wheel drive, or LOCKED 6 wheel drive. There is also a lever to put it in low gear. So with 6 FULLY LOCKED (selectable lockers, by the way...) wheels in LOW gear, you can do some serious off-roading!!! This is a 24-volt vehicle, which has many advantages over a 12-volt system. Most people add converters and/or inverters (I think that's what they are called...) to use 12-volt accessories or just go w/ marine accessories that come typically in 24-volt varieties. -Jon

Man, I hate this thread:Wow1: How much cab room- I'm a little fella, 6'-3" and 275# ??

The 275# should not be a problem, as I am 350#!!! The height probably WON'T be an issue in THIS Pinz, but I should measure to be sure (I'll get back to you on that soon). What I mean by this is that I took out the bottom of the stock driver seat and I had a very thin pad made to replace it. I had this done b/c w/ the original seat, my head was close to hitting the padding on the roof roll bar. More importantly, my--how should I say--ample-sized belly was close to hitting the steering wheel. I slightly modified the driver side seat frame so that I could position it back another couple of inches. The thin seat combined w/ the slight modification to the seat frame gave me PLENTY of head room and... uhh... belly room. I am only 6' tall, but I have stubby legs and a LONG torso, so I would bet that I have a longer torso than you do, even though you are 6' 3". I do have the original seat (actually, I have a matching set), so it is very easy to convert back to stock, if you want to. It would take me about 5 minutes to do it! All in all, I think you will find the Pinzgauer plenty big for you, especially w/ my modification.

Was your rig at George Mason University last year for a concert? Saw one just like it. Nice rig, good luck with the sale.

While I've been to George Mason University and the Patriot Center many times, and even took a class or two there, I've never been there with my Pinzgauer. It must have been someone else... I know of about 2 or 3 other Pinzgauers around in Maryland and Virginia. I recently saw a Volvo C303 as well and we have someone in town here w/ a German Half Track from WWII. Seems like the army vehicles are becoming popular! Thanks. -Jon

Congrats on the sale....I bet you will miss it though! I did the same thing with mine, bought it, enjoyed it, tossed money at it and then sold it for $20k.

I miss mine but there were some things about it I don't miss. They are fun trucks but easy to flop over, I put mine on it's side once fairly easily. One thing is for sure, they will climb just about anything!
