1984 Land Rover (Series III) Santana

Ok, so this isn't technically "For Sale" just yet... YET...

Yes, it's an '84 Land Rover Santana / Series III. But I'm guessing you've already gathered that from the title. So... On to the good stuff!

It's the shorter, 88 inch, wheelbase.
As a Series model Santana, it is (as far as I'm able to tell) identical to the proper Series Land Rovers, even down to (most of?) the parts actually being made in Solihull. They were then shipped to Spain, assembled there, and slapped with the "Santana" badge.
Hard-top which, (if you know these) is perfectly removable; albeit requiring the removal of a few bolts, and something bigger than myself to lift it off.
It's has the 2.25L diesel, and (as a Spanish model), is left-hand drive.

And now, the REALLY good stuff...
As of now, it has only 25,740 KM... That's just a hair under 16,000 miles.
And while it has a few minor scrapes (see pictures), it's basically rust free and (as far as I'm aware) still has the original paint in excellent condition.
Likewise, the interior is as near perfect as it can be for a non-museum vehicle of the year.

Speaking of the year...
'84 was the last year of the Series LR's, and as a later model of the Series III, it has the 5-bearing crankshaft; meaning none... well... not as many... of the traditional leaky-Land-Rover issues. Indicated by the red engine paint, vs the green paint of the earlier engine models.
Similarly, it wasn't even first registered until the following year, in 1985.

So, why isn't it for sale "just yet"?
It's in Spain and is fully scheduled to ship to the US on Nov 12th. Upon arrival in Baltimore (probably late Nov/early Dec), I will be trailering it to Marysville, Ohio, where it will be fully registered, titled, insured, etc.
Also, while it has already been checked out by a mechanic in Spain (not to mention recently undergoing and fully passing the rigorous Spanish inspection process for older vehicles), I fully intend to have it gone over by either the local Land Rover dealer, or a known local LR club expert. Full documentation of their report to go with it.
Therefore, (full disclosure per the rules), it is "on it's way to being in my immediate possession", and I will be updating this post/thread as things progress.
Documentation showing my current ownership of the vehicle (in Spain), as well as inspection papers, registration records, etc is available upon request via PM.

Regarding asking price, I'm still new to these and am open to offers.
But based on the research I've seen, I am thinking in the $20,000~$25,000 range.
Feedback is very, VERY welcome!

An update on the Land Rover Santana...
It has arrived here in the US, and (due to some confusion regarding getting the necessary documents over here...) took far longer than I'd anticipated to get titled and registered in the US.
That said, it now has a clean Ohio title, is fully registered, and is wearing an Ohio license plate. Accordingly, it is now in a condition that I can offer it for sale!

Above, I'd indicated a $20,000~$25,000 price range. Having now inspected it in person, I'm in a far better position to acknowledge the not-so-great about it.

The Ugly...
The paint is NOT original.
The color may be (and does look pretty good!), but there does appear to be no shortage of bondo under there. Up close, several cracks can be seen on the surface, and there is evidence of overspray/sloppy taping.
That said... It is every bit as clean and free of rust and corrosion as it appeared to be!

Also, the prior owner appears to have used it for exactly what it was intended to be used for, and two of the cross-members do have some damage. Thanks to the dry climate in Spain though, it has NOT turned into rust or rot of any kind.

Finally, there appears to be some slop in both the front and rear u-joint yoke, where it goes into the pumpkins. I believe this is due to bearing wear and/or possible seal damage.

All that being said... Given that it is effective free of any and all corrosion; albeit cosmetically flawed, and in need of some typical maintenance (according to the Green Bible, those seals/bearings are maintenance parts), I'll list it for $19,000 to expo members.
It'll be going up on Facebook and Craigslist for $20,000.

I've attached pics of the most problematic points that I can see, and will gladly provide any other pics of any details anyone would like to know about.
The light was fading when I got it back in the garage (coming back from the local DMV and diesel mechanic who gave the engine an excellent bill of health), so additional exterior shots will be forthcoming, along with detail pics of the good parts (i.e. rot-free underside of the bulkhead, outriggers, etc).

Thank you!
