...possibly.

I haven't decided to sell for sure yet, but I've got my eyes on one of those little toyota 4wd vans, and if I decide to grab one, this must go. It's a 1985 4runner..

The good:
fresh 22RE
even fresher (~10K) Marlin 5 speed
fresh (~10K) Marlin Dual Ultimate Crawler (4.7 gears in rear case)
custom long slip driveshafts
High Steer
4:88 gears, rear detroit locker
dual batteries
custom rear bumper/ tire carrier/ cook table
sleeping platform(no rear seats)
interior cage
Cruises at 70 no prob... starts every time, never trailered

Bad:
needs tires (33's)
rough body (roof and drivers quarter, mainly)
needs a speedo cable, went out about 5K after I did the dual cases
could use some more damping/ heavier valving in shocks

Rolls over anything in it's path, and these days I rarely find things in my path that I want to run over. I feel like someone could use this truck for what it's built for. I haven't in the last three or so years. Thought doing the duals might make me want to get off road more, but I just don't have the urge.

I don't know if there is any interest here. I think I like those little vans..

good luck with the sale; no doubt you've heard about the three main problems with the 1st. generation Toyota Vans:

1. Prone to overheating
2. PITA to work on
3. they overheat all the time.

other than that, super fun. and, occasionally you do hear about the occasional van that came off the line on a good day and gets driven 300k mi. in the mountains day in and day out without blowing a head gasket.

wish I could pick up the 'runner, looks like fun. mine can barely hit 70 going downhill with the proverbial tailwind.

Please add the vehicle's location (town), and your asking price to the ad.

Thanks, and good luck with the sale.

It sounds like you have found yourself in the same place I did . . . I haven't bounced off rocks in a few years, and finally sold my Jeep in favor of something better suited for my current travel habits.

It looks like more pics can come tomorrow; it's just not going to happen tonight.

I'll try and dig some up, or maybe I'll just head outside and get a bunch of fresh ones.
Thanks,
GB

just put ~500 (road) miles on it this weekend. Now not sure I want to sell..

If I can ever make up my mind I'll put it here first.
Until then I have to open a new Flickr so I can load more pics..
Cheers

Bump!

Well, I bought the van, and the runner is back up for sale. Lately it just sits in my driveway.

If anyone wants a trail capable, reliable, highway driving truck, this is a good option. Also great for Baja and further as it looks rough on the drivers side. Last time I drove it we went to Ft Bragg; drives wonderfully.
I have it on CL at $4200 OBO. Any one here who wants it, just make an offer.

I'd also be interested in selling this truck without the motor at around $2500.
Buyer would get basically new trans., marlin dual ultimate crawler, 4:88 gears F & R with a detroit locker. I feel that $2500 is pretty fair for those parts let alone the rest.

Here's a bump for ya G.

I can vouch for this rig, it will roll over almost anything at idle. Very capable runner.

Sold it yesterday. Sad to see it go, but at least it'll get rallied. Time go install all those goodies in my new van.....
