Hello folks, what you have here is a chance to own a real "unicorn." For sale is my ultra rare 1985 Toyota Hilux Surf. This is a real Japanese 4Runner (known as the Hilux Surf in its homeland). This thing is amazing! It gets thumbs ups wherever it goes, a real attention grabber for sure.

The truck has a clean title and it's officially registered here in California (a rare feat nowadays). The tags were just paid and are good until next December. Pink Slip in hand. It is as legal as can be!

This truck has a 2.0 Turbo diesel engine which gets pretty decent mileage for its age. The odometer currently reads 240,478km which converts to just under 150k (149,430 miles, very low for a diesel). The power from the engine is more than sufficient to haul this thing around. I wouldn't call it quick, but it definitely keeps up with traffic, and hitting 130kph (80mph) is a breeze. Its been daily driven over 40 miles a day for the past year.

This truck is a blast to drive, especially since its right-hand drive, and has a 5-speed manual transmission. The part-time 4WD system works wonderfully. This truck has the automatic hub locks and the solid rear axle. A very tough truck for sure.

As you can see from the pictures, this thing is NICE! The truck is completely rust-free and the original paint is in great shape, as are all the vinyl decals and logos. The original seats were recently redone in an awesome marine grade vinyl in bright red. These seats look so sweet, especially in contrast with the dark grey paint.

The truck also has a new JVC head unit with bluetooth connectivity and new Kenwood speakers that sound nice and clear. The carpet is all intact with no tears or rips, as is the headliner. All the warning labels and interior stickers are there, all in their native language. There are even some old coins and stickers from its homeland in the ashtray!

The removable top is in great condition, the rear window motor works perfectly, and the rear wiper works great as well. The grill guard and roof rack are both in great condition and will come with the truck.

The only parts that have been replaced are the typical wear and tear items. These include:
new clutch & flywheel
new brakes
new shocks
new A/C compressor
new clutch slave cylinder
new clutch master cylinder
new starter

However, the truck is also not perfect. The a/c compressor was replaced, but it still needs to be recharged.

The passenger side mirror was broken off (as you can see in the pictures). I have purchased a new set of JDM fender-mounted mirrors but I just never got around to installing them. These will be included in the sale.

Lastly, the engine has recently started making a strange noise. A local diesel specialist ran an evaluation and stated that the exhaust valve from #2 cylinder was broken. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to fix the truck. I love this truck and would totally want to fix it up and keep driving it, but my current financial situation forces the sale. My loss is your gain!

Nowadays its hard to even find an original and unmodified 1st gen 4Runner, let alone a Japanese import. These trucks are only growing in value, and here is your chance to get one at a hugely discounted price. With a pretty quick fix, you can have one of the nicest and rarest trucks on the road today. Keep it as is, or turn it into your next rock crawling warrior! I understand that this truck needs a bit of work done so the price is set at $9000 OBO. I am fairly firm on the price but I am open to reasonable offers, just no lowballers! This is a super rare truck that has had lots of love and money put into it! Good luck trying to find another one just like it! Don't let this rare beast get away!

Please email me for any questions. Thanks for looking!
